Community Building Experience:
October 2016: St. Cloud Toyota Sponsored PhilanthroFEED Meal at Salvation Army North
According to Websters Dictionary, Philanthropy is defined as goodwill to fellow members of the human race; especially :active effort to promote human welfare. As a part of a program started in St. Cloud, the local Salvation Army took part in an inniative to bring businesses in to help feed those in need. The program known as PhilanthroFEED, brought in businesses as sponsors of a meal to those in the shelter as often as they'd like. For a mere $250 a business can sponsor a dinner or for $500 they can sponsor a lunch for more than 180 people. It's a great way for businesses to give back to those in need on a face-to-face basis. At St. Cloud Toyota, I organized two separate occasions where our staff sponsored a meal. It was a wonderful way for our employees to see what a wonderful service organizations like the Salvation Army bring to their communities.
